Cat shows rules in France

The feline exhibitions or cats presentations are organized by associations (or their affiliated clubs) under their own responsibility and within the framework of the capacities being defined by the LOOF (Official Book of the Feline Origins, created on the 01/06/1999 and only French organisation to be able to deliver cats pedigrees in France).

According to the LOOF's statutes, a harmonization of the exhibitions dates is made in the dialogue within the " Committee of the Exhibitions " by the LOOF. In case of different, the LOOF chooses. All the clubs should send to the LOOF (by fax, mail or email) their dates and places of their cat shows. A document of rent or putting at disposition of the room will be sent to the LOOF at least one month before the demonstration. Should the opposite occur the exhibition will not be recognized.

Only cats presentations or cats exhibitions of LOOF associations members or one of their affiliated clubs are recognized by the LOOF.

All presentations or exhibitions organized by an LOOF association member or by one of its affiliated clubs should clearly indicate the reference of membership in the LOOF.

The organizers undertake to appeal only to judges approved by LOOF. They are up to verify that the chosen judges have the qualifications to judge races and categories of cats which are presented to them.

Clubs and associations organizing feline exhibitions should send to the LOOF their catalog of exhibition accompanied with all cats results and this at the latest 10 days after the holding of the demonstration. Should the opposite occur certificates delivered during the demonstration.

The name " Feline Exhibition " is reserved for the demonstrations collecting more than 100 cats in competition (arrangement concerning metropolitan France ; infringements can be done).

All the cats presented with a breed name should necessarily be able to prove their quality.
The breeder will arm himself, for that purpose, with the copy of the pedigrees or any documentary evidence.
The breeders do not who want to communicate to the organizing association the name of the parents of the cat, will cannot participate to the cat show.

The organizers undertake to appeal only to judges approved by LOOF. They are up to verify that the chosen judges have the qualifications to judge races and categories of cats which are presented to them.

What's the LOOF ?
The LOOF is the Official Book of the Feline Origins. It was created in 1999 and it is the only organisation to deliver the cats pedigrees for cats born in France. So, all the breeds cats born in France have been a LOOF pedigree since 1999. Besides, this organisation recognizes a lot of foreign associations when a cat is bought abroad. No problem for his kittens to obtain LOOF pedigrees. The LOOF depend of the Agriculture Ministry and so depends on the French government. The LOOF can be likened to a feline association such as the TICA, the CFA, their functions are similar.
The difference is in the fact that a French breeder can not choose another organisation or association to establish his pedigrees and that LOOF is an organisation of the public domain and that it is not governs as an association.
